Truphone demonstrates VoIP on the iPhone and cool new Facebook application

Truphone will today give the first public demonstration of a VoIP over Wi-Fi phone call on the Apple iPhone. Chief executive officer James Tagg will make the VoIP call in front of an audience of 350 delegates to DEMOfall 07 in San Diego, CA.

[UPDATE]

The company will also give a demonstration of an application that mashes up social networking site Facebook and traditional telephony. Any Facebook user will be able to click on a friend's 'Truphone Call Me' button, and a free phone call will be initiated to whichever phone their friend has chosen. This will mean free calls to real phones for everyone in the Facebook community.

NEW: Truphone 3.3 - recommended upgrade for all users

We're pleased to announce an upgrade of the Truphone service recommended for all our customers.

Truphone 3.3 has all the same great features, including Truphone over 3G, free SMS to other online Truphone users and multi-SIM for Travellers, this new version fixes a few pesky bugs as well as improving Wi-Fi access point management and reliability.

We've now made it easier for you to create a priority list of your preferred access points (like your home or office) and Truphone will automatically connect to them, as soon as you're in range.

You can still set up as many access points as you like, it just means that Truphone will manage them so you don't have to.

Setting up your access point priority list is easy. Simply run Truphone on your handset as normal, scroll to the right and move your preferred access points above the auto-connect line.

You can get the latest Truphone 3.3 upgrade here.

Any questions? Discuss them at the mobilevoipforum or email support@truphone.com.
