Truphone saves you money on
iPhone calls by routing calls via Wi-Fi. Why is this
great?
- Absurdly low rates – particularly great value for calling internationally or when you’re travelling. Eg, 3p/min to anywhere in USA. Calls to 40 major countries are just 3p/minute to landlines and 15p/minute to mobiles.
- No roaming charges – prices are the same no matter where on the planet you’re calling from.
- Make calls in deadspots – Wi-Fi VoIP means your iPhone works even with zero cellular reception
- Free to
download, no lengthy contracts, no subscriptions. And we give you £2/$4 credit
to get going.

Truphone
works on both the original and the new 3G iPhone devices.
So who had the bright idea of producing an iPhone product video using a format that doesn't play on iPhone? Gives me great pause as to how seriously you will support the platform.

No problem - you can watch the video on YouTube if you prefer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gx9V-lN9XTg

Interesting. I guess Apple changed their mind about billing then. They told me at WWDC that the only money you were allowed to charge for app usage was through the store. :) Congratulations!

HOW do you Cancel this account???

@Rico :
Right and you expect then that every site in the world should switch to Youtube to host their videos? Get real. You are a complete retard if you think that Truphone aren't interested in supporting the iPhone platform just because they prefer to host that video themselves. Remember most people will be browsing this site on a computer and not an iPhone.

Ok I like this, but WHAT PHONE NUMBER DO PEOPLE CALL TO REACH ME? WHAT IS MY PHONE NUMBER?

Was working fine until I did a restore on my iPhone. No it keeps trying to register and just says Account Already exists, email support@truphone.com. I've emailed them 3 times and no reply in 72 hours. I would like to use it again!
Also don't know what number people call me on. This needs some more docs or instructions.

I have to say, this is freaking sweet. I get really poor cell phone coverage in my apartment, but wicked great WiFi..and it also saves my minutes. You guys really did a great job with this app compared to many of the others I have seen. Great job on getting this up and running before Skype.

So two of us installed this - we were both in a wi-fi zone and tried calling through TruPhone - but it seemed to go from wi-fi to GSM so one of us always got charged. We tested this by switching off my phone and keeping the wi-fi enabled, while logged into truphone. This time he got my voice-mail.
Surely we were supposed to get wi-fi based numbers than we called to enable free wi-fi to wi-fi calls (this was on an iPhone 3G by the way)
cheers,
Nige

The idea is great but the implementation is still sketchy. Any attempt of reinstalling the appl makes the credit disappear and attempts to restore the whole iPhone (groan) causes the service to disown the iPhone. Obviously something is not properly erased.
Also the settings are blank and apparently the iPhone does not allow a call back service on GSM, which I could well understand at this stage, but it does not say anything about it which is not good

Amazing application!, portability is growing in so many ways that very soon we will use only a simple iPhone for all our needs. Have you seen the latest WordPress for the iPhone?
