Truphone named Greatest Gadget

Award-winner We are very excited to announce that Truphone has been crowned 'Greatest Gadget' at GadgetFest 2008 in San Diego, California.

"Capturing the GadgetFest crown is really a credit to our entire engineering and product team that have worked tirelessly to get the application ready for launch," said Tom Carter, Truphone's North American president, who oversaw both award-winning demonstrations.

BlackBerry screenshot Attention all BlackBerry smartphone users - Truphone is now available to you!

The Truphone on the BlackBerry application is now ready to download for free, and use to make cheap international calls from your home country.

One of the best parts of the application is that it incorporates Truphone Anywhere, which means you don't need to be in Wi-Fi to make calls.

The application is currently still in beta, so there are many more cool features to come.

Already, leaders in the VoIP community are getting behind the application. GigaOM says that "tight integration of the service (the Truphone app) with my Blackberry address book makes it dead simple to use, especially when making those international long distance calls." TechCrunch agrees, saying "Truphone integrates well with the handset’s address book", going on to highlight that Truphone could be financially beneficial, "especially among business users looking to cut costs. "

For those of you still waiting for your handset to become compatible with Truphone, don't forget to register your interest so that we can let you know when you can start using Truphone too.
