Truphone now supported locally in 41 countries
Truphone Anywhere technology allows users of Truphone on the iPhone, BlackBerry, Android and Nokia to make international calls from their home country without being connected to a Wi-Fi network, by connecting the call via a local call to a Truphone server in their country. Truphone then routes the international portion of the call over the Internet.
The ability to use Truphone Anywhere is limited to users who are located in a country that contains a Truphone server, so we are constantly working to increase the number of servers we have located around the world.
We are very happy to announce that eight new servers are set up, in countries including Bahrain, Greece and Peru, bringing the total number of countries that can enjoy Truphone Anywhere to 41!
You can see the full list here, and find out more about Truphone Anywhere here.
My cousin in Greece will love the product, could you please name all eight new countries. The PDF has all countries, but I am curious what you added. Is India now included?

That's great to hear, TruLover!
The eight new countries are:
- Bahrain
- Croatia
- Estonia
- Greece
- Lithuania
- Peru
- Puerto Rico
- Singapore
India is not yet on the list.

I have looked through the website, but am unable to find an answer to my question...IF I am roaming outside of Switzerland, where I live, and I am not accessing a WiFi network, how am i charged by Truphone for an international call? Say I am in France, and call to Germany, but my Truphone acct is set up in Switzerland...
Thank you.

I have downloaded Truphone onto my BB with my UK number but am trying to make an account for my iphone which has a UAE number and UAE is not on the list of countries so I can't set up the account. Is this right and will you be adding UAE soon please?
Posted by: palrais | July 19, 2009 at 03:43 PM
@fduvall - we would not recommend using Truphone in the situation you described, as the call would be connected by making a call from France, back to the Truphone server in Switzerland where your local server is, and we would then connect the rest of the call via the Truphone network.
The part of the call between France and Switzerland would be charged by your operator, and would be most likely charged at an international rate, plus roaming charges as well.
We recommend only using Wi-Fi networks to make Truphone calls when you are not in your home country.
Hope this helps answer your question.
@palrais - We do not have a local Truphone server in UAE, so there is no way to connect non Wi-Fi calls. If you send an email to hello@truphone.com with your contact details, we will add your name to the contact list for when UAE is supported. There are no timings on this at the moment.

Can I make free calls to the philippines!???
Posted by: Yanna | December 09, 2009 at 11:29 PM
Can i make free calls to the Philippines and australlia but if not how much does each one cost?
Posted by: Yanna | December 09, 2009 at 11:31 PM
Hi Yanna - it depends which phone you are using Truphone on, and whether you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.
With Truphone, you can make free calls with our applications on the iPhone and iPod touch to any other Truphone, Skype, or Google Talk user as long as you are both connected to Wi-Fi.
You can also make free Truphone to Truphone calls over Wi-Fi with our Nokia application.

My friend downloaded truphone to her blackberry and live in Jordan. She is connected to her wifi, however she is getting the following message "unable to make truphone calls when not in home country"
Is there a solution?

Hi Adam,
Your friend should contact our Support team (support@truphone.com), who can investigate why this is occurring.
