Truphone - 1st VoIP app on the iPad

 

Saturday saw the eagerly awaited launch of Apple’s latest must have gadget – the iPad. Truphone is the first VoIP application to be specifically produced for use on the iPad which we think is pretty darn cool. As you’d expect from the Truphone iPad application, it lets you make free wi-fi calls to other Truphone and Google Talk users and low-cost calls over wi-fi to landlines and mobile phones across the world.

Another cool feature of Truphone on the iPad is that it lets you chat via instant messenger (IM) to Google Talk, MSN and AIM users making it easier than ever to stay in touch with friends on the go.

The one app which helps me turn my iPad into a phone is Freephoo. I found this free app at http://itunes.apple.com/se/app/freephoo/id411865638?mt=8&ls=1.
The serious of calls to friends and family begins the moment you download the app and quite frankly its never enough. But i hardly bother about how long i talk coz calls between freephoo users are free. Its connectivity is pretty good as it works on both WiFi and 3G.

I love my iPad and Freephoo just adds so much to this joy. Its an awesome feeling holding this giant phone and talking through it. As for connectivity, simplicity and user friendliness, Freephoo is pretty good. I heard that the Premium pack for international calls are reasonable.
