Tru Tip: Getting your IMEI

Having your phone stolen is a really frustrating experience.

There is something you can do now though, to prevent the thief from being able to use the phone if this ever happens to you.

IMEI

Each phone has an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI), which identifies the phone. On almost all phones, you can find out your IMEI by typing *#06#

We recommend getting your IMEI now and keeping it somewhere safe. If you ever have your phone stolen, contact your network provider, give them your IMEI and they will be able to block the phone so that it can't be used.

You may never get your phone back, but you might feel just a little better knowing no-one else will use it either.
