iPhone 4S - a quick summary

Apple today unveiled the latest edition of the iPhone, the iPhone 4S.

While it's not the shiny new iPhone 5 everyone was anticipating (it looks just like the iPhone 4), there are still some improvements and new features worth we thought would be great for Tru users.

Faster on the inside

Apple's A5 dual-core 1GHz processor is claiming to offer twice the speed of the iPhone 4, great for browsing, playing games, or just switching between apps. Despite this extra power, the battery life has also been improved, with up to 6 hours of browsing over 3G available for example.

The camera's faster and better too

8 megapixels versus 5 megapixels on the iPhone 4, with auto-focus and all-new optics means photos will be better quality than ever before. You can take quicker snaps too, with the time delay once you press the screen to take a photo dropping from over 2 seconds to 1.1 seconds. The iPhone 4S will also take 1080HD videos.

Wireless printing

This is not the feature on everyone's lips, but we thought it was quite good. This feature of iOS5 allows you to print something (for example, an email or a travel booking) wirelessly to an Airprint-enabled printer within your Wi-Fi network, and just a few taps later, you have your print out.

Great if you are in a foreign office and not set up on the system.

Voice recognition for just about anything, with Siri

This was the biggest new feature of the launch event, as is quite impressive. Siri allows users to use voice recognition to read and send text messages and emails, find out the weather, and pretty much anything you can think of.

For Tru users who travel regularly, this is a great feature if you are not sure where to go out for dinner, or what to do in an unfamiliar city (just make sure you are on Wi-Fi though!).
